It is a mythical creature who’s money luck notoriety has probably outgrown the original story.   For modern Feng Shui purposes, the Three Legged Toad is probably the most famous and most popular of the so called wealth luck producing “lucky charms”. It was made famous by a Malaysian Feng Shui author who wrote about it in many of her books when Feng Shui was being introduced to the West.   The Legend of the Three Legged Toad   There are a few different variations on the story of this Three Legged Weath Toad. Here is one of them;   There was a minister of state during the tenth century AD called Liu Hai. He was also one of the eight immortals. The eight immortals all had magical powers and Liu Hai being one of them knew about this magical toad’s ability to attract great wealth and prosperity.   So Liu Hai searched for this mystical Three Legged Wealth Toad. After a long search Liu Hai finally found the Three Legged Wealth Toad at the bottom of a deep well. But how does he lure this toad out?   Well, he knew that the toad loved money very much and so he tied a long red string onto some gold coins and used it as toad bait! When the toad saw the gold coin, he bit the gold coin, unwilling to let go, he was carried up the well and became Liu Hai’s wealth enhancing pet.   The Three Legged Wealth Toad knows where to find gold, and therefore is always sitting on its hoard of gold coins. It is also greedy for money and sitting on it is not enough, it has to always have a gold coin in its mouth as well! It is therefore a wealth magnet!! The Three Legged Wealth Toad is believed to be a money magnet!
